alright, so these are some good friends of mine who have a rockin Christian band. (gregg, you can stop reading now) They're going places, so I wanted to put them in the blog. Affix is the name, Chad Frazier, Rich Kendle, Hank Violet, Scott Breiding and the newest member, Andy Blakemore. Their website is www.rockaffix.com or www.myspace.com/rockaffix. They write all of their own music/lyrics and seriously are quite good. Check them out! Their CD is available now, and it's only 5 dollars...

My Mom

For my Christian Marriage class, I have to write a rather lengthy essay about how my parents have shaped my life and influenced my personality traits. If any of you have ever heard me talk about my mother, you might have noticed(apart from the crazy awesome impersonation that I do) that sometimes she comes off a bit crazy. I suppose that everyone has a little crazy in them, I know I do. I also know that I got it from my parents.

First, I have my dad, the one who couldn't care less about the fancy things but thinks the world of things that others have almost completely forgotten. He is now dabbling in the art of the HAM radio. My mother, on the other hand, likes nothing except children's books and construction paper projects. I will say with great confidence that I have never seen her experience great joy. Save perhaps once. She was rather elated following her hip replacement surgery, but even that was shrouded by the pain of physical therapy...and the sheet that served as our bathroom door.
I most definitely see both of my parents in myself. My temperament is an annoying mixture of the two. I behave like my father until I get agitated or worked up, which is when my mom's side punches my dad's in the face and asserts herself with great power. This is why Dan and i don't discuss politics. Sometimes I feel like a direct physical manifestation of my parent's relationship.

A good many of my personal staples mimic those of my mother. I tend to keep upsetting things, the details anyway, to myself and just mope around until someone drags the truth out of me. I tend to not be as open with my emotions, and would rather express them in the form of a letter than a conversation face to face. My world view, however, is a direct result of years spent with my father. I tend to like people even if others don't and hover towards the optimistic side of the spectrum. I always worry that when I grow up, I am going to be one of those people my mother classifies as 'dingier than a doornail.' Do unto others as you wish them to do to you, I suppose.
All in all, I love my parents and think they're pretty awesome.

Also, I apologize to everyone they have harassed. This list includes: anyone looking for college scholarships, Nick Dayton, Camp Presmont Board members, Whitesides Staff, St. Clairsville City Schools and my family.

St C Glee!

Okay so in high school, I proudly teched it up on a daily basis with my best friend Shane in a group called the St. C Singers. We were a traveling show choir and sang/danced all over Ohio, West Virginia and Indiana. We also went to New York City, Nashville and the Bahamas. It is surely my favorite bunch of memories from high school and some of the best times I've ever had. Now, the St. C Singers have a new director, screw you Berk, and have won the Glee competition! From what I can understand, this is either a national or regional competition in which the Singers filmed a commercial to be played before a new episode of Glee airs on FOX. We are all very excited for the Singers and are wishing them an awesome season! I will be going to the competitions with my parents to cheer on my sister Katie!

He Grants Sleep to Those He Loves

Tomorrow is my first day of class at my very new school, Wheeling Jesuit University. I transferred in from Ohio University last spring. I'm majoring in theology and have already had one professor advise me against it. I think it's because I have such a hard time explaining my desire to study the Christian religion. I've never been able to pin it down, but it has become very clear to me that it's the only thing I want to study...well, aside from anthropology. Alas! I am making plans to apply to seminary next year with the hopes of beginning on the path to clergydom by the time I am 24. I am, of course, doing all these things with the knowledge that my path is not yet defined and that God may speak to me in a way that makes me change my plan of study.
All of this being said, I still have to take chemistry...and logic. I'm rather nervous that my grades will not be up to par. This is the main reason for deleting my facebook. Well, seeing as how it is 1 am....I'm off to bed. Goodnight!

In vain you rise early,
and stay up late,
toiling for food to eat—
for he grants sleep to those He loves.
Psalm 127:2

HAHAHAHA. I love this website, and yes I will admit I love cats. I am not, however, a crazy cat lady or any variation thereof. I have a couple cats, but only one lives with me full time. Elmo has been my baby since 1999 and continues to sleep at the foot of my bed every night. Gizmo is 1 and lives with my boyfriend. He is quite the firecracker and loves to play with anybody. This is a dramatic departure from the temperment of Elmo, with whom it is a great day if even I am allowed to pet her. I am very much against the dressing of pets in costumes unless it is for warmth in the winter or halloween.
